How do we care for our global neighbors?

Social media networks have exploded this week in response to the Invisible Children’s KONY 2012 campaign.  The advocacy group is seeking to bring Joseph Kony, leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda, to justice for his heinous crimes against humanity.

You can watch the KONY 2012 campaign video here:

The campaign has garnered overwhelming support.  It has also been heavily critiqued by many.  Some raise concerns about the means of the campaign (it is imperialistic, it doesn’t consider the opinions and experience of Ugandans).  Others are worried the campaign doesn’t explain what their vision for “justice” would be for Joseph Kony.

You can read some of these critiques here:

From Foreign Policy Magazine: Joseph Kony is Not in Uganda (and Other Complicated Things)

From The Independent: Stop Kony, yes. But Don’t Stop Asking Questions

So…how do we care for our global neighbors? How do we pray for and with them? How do we act alongside them for justice? What does it mean to be a member of the global community as people of faith?
